Dylan Fyfe.

Early 2011 while boxing (at the age of 36), I got my tenth rib broken accompanied by a punctured left lung. Needless to say I was out for a while in order to recover. While recovering I discovered CrossFit.com. I remember reading about how sub ten minute (or less) workouts would leave people crushed and realized that I would have to try it out. I purchased a barbell and a couple of bumper plates and put up a pull up bar at work and proceeded to do a workout called “Fran” which is 21-15-9 Thrusters 40kg & Pull ups for time. 8 minutes & 45 seconds later, using mostly strict pull ups and not near full range of motion on the thrusters, I was lying on the floor thinking I would cough up a piece of lung. On top of that, it took me twenty minutes to recover from a sub ten minute workout that I didn’t even do with the required points of performance. The realization of the power of CrossFit methodology combined with healthy nutrition blew my head. I was in! By May 2011 I was following CrossFit.com workouts without fail. All I wanted to do was share CrossFit with everyone I could reach. I did my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer course in September 2011 and would meet up with folks to do CrossFit in parks, driveways, garages, at work and anywhere we could. I got the opportunity to go into CrossFit full time and opened CrossFit The Slab with my Dad, George Fyfe in February 2013. Working with athletes every day to get them better and seeing and hearing about how CrossFit is benefiting their lives is incredible. Now at the age of 40, I am able to walk on my hands, do muscle ups, clean & jerk, snatch and more thanks to CrossFit and I am most grateful to be able to do something I love every day of my life.
